How to choose base layers?

When it comes to choosing the base layer of skiing, you should consider the material. A good quality base layer for skiing is made of synthetic materials or merino wool. Base layers made of synthetic materials are good at wicking away sweat, lightweight, and quick drying. These are often made of nylon, polyester, hybrid, elastane, and other materials. However, when compared to base layers made of wool, synthetic base layers offer little odor resistance. They are also not good at regulating temperature. If you are looking for an affordable option, synthetic base layers are cheaper than wool. Salomon, Rossignol, Dynafit, Head, Superdry offer the best base and mid layers for skiing.
Dynafit long sleeve base layer made from merino wool is excellent in odor protection, soft on the skin, and lightweight. For skiing and snowboarding, wool base layers are the best choice. Merino wool X BIONIC Base Layer has a natural insulating effect which acts as a buffer against the cold.
The heavier the base layer material you choose the worse its wicking abilities will be. Therefore, when choosing a base layer, make sure it is breathable and quick drying. On the other hand, a mid layer is something that you wear between your base layer and outer layer.

• Base Layers – help wick away moisture.
• Mid Layers – help regulate body heat.
• Outer Layers – help keep away the wind, rain & snow.
